This erotic series airs on
Showcase in Canada and the Oxygen channel in the US. It is written, produced,
directed, and created for women by women, and each softcore episode is heavy on
story, light on frontal exposed flesh, but with very hot love scenes. Three
out of the eight first season broadcasts involve lesbian encounters. In "Leaper,"
Julia (Michelle Lipper) runs across a homeless woman (Millie Tresierra) who tries
to kiss her. Dionne (Paule Ducharme, Head
in the Clouds) is a bystander and takes the opportunity to invite Julia
up to her apartment. This is late night tv, so Dionne seduces her into a night
of passion ... before Julia figures out the connection between Dionne and the
street person. "The Value of X" examines a sexual outlet not often
seen on film. Jeanette (Tara Spencer-Nairn) and Zachary (Jason MacDonald) are
both lgbt high school students, and J is in love with her best friend Marnie (Rachelle
Lefevre, Head in the Clouds), who
doesn't feel the same way. J and Z decide to experiment, making out while Z wears
lipstick, pretending the other is a member of the same sex. Eventually J takes
Z from behind. When they can't have the real object of their desires, the two
friends try a fantasy sexual world. "Voice" sees Ally (Mikela
J. Mikael, "The L Word") find out that her boyfriend Tyler (David Lovgren)
is married, and his wife (Veronika Hurnik) begins to haunt her. When the two women
finally meet, they make love in a cheap hotel room, both freeing themselves from
any hold Tyler has on either of them. (Also includes het sex scenes.) |
