A classic in the women in prison genre. Jacqueline (Erica Gavin, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls) is caught in a drug bust and sent to prison, where she is subjected to shock treatment by the sadistic male doctor (who also rapes another prisoner). Two of her fellow inmates perform a drag show that's a bit too risqué for the uptight, wheelchair-bound warden (Barbara Steele) and are sent to solitary for punishment without food or clothing.

Maggie (Juanita Brown, Foxy Brown), the resident tough girl, and Jacqueline break out, but they decide to come back to break out a friend who is about to be lobotomized by the doctor. They are successful, and both the doctor and the warden are killed by their own dufus guards.

Plenty of the requisite naked shower scenes, but no sex between the inmates or female guards (which is a bit of a surprise). Written and directed by Jonathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs, Black Mama, White Mama).
