Lucy and Amy - D.E.B.S.

Lucy and Amy - D.E.B.S.

The D.E.B.S., tartan-skirted paramilitary spies, are given the job of stopping Lucy Diamond (Jordana Brewster), an international thief about whom Amy (Sara Foster) is writing a term paper. They know she is meeting Ninotchka (Jessica Cauffiel), an assassin, but they don't realize that the meet is really a blind date between the two. Lucy's lesbian identify is established right away.

After they run into one another, Lucy develops such an interest that she pursues Amy. The romance between Amy and Lucy is sweet and just so ... normal that it's great! They fake Amy's kidnapping so that they can be together. Unfortunately, the two love birds are found out, but predictably, there is a happy ending.

No coming out angst or the usual lesbian storylines. The romance is central to this film in a fun way. It wasn't as full of laughs as I would have liked, but I'll certainly take it as an example of the kind of relationships I'd love to see on screen all the time!

Also worth your movie dollar to support filmmaker Angela Robinson ("The L Word," Fabulous!). Based on hilarious D.E.B.S. short.
