A few years ago, Loving
Annabelle's writer/ director Katherine Brooks (Dear Emily, Surrender,
"The Complex") made a short film that is essentially the story of how
she lost her virginity. Growing up in small town Louisiana, Kate admired her older
cousin Victoria, who had married and escaped to a different life. One day Victoria
shows up to a family wedding, and the film is the story of that night. A
very young Erin Kelly (Loving Annabelle,
Het) plays 17-year-old Kate at the wedding reception. When she sees Victoria
(Jessica Lancaster), she quickly drops her boyfriend's hand to go talk to her
cousin. The two flirt and end up in the pool together, their eyes dancing until
they kiss. The next morning, it's clear that they have spent the night together. Although
made available directly from Katherine Brooks for a short time, the dvd is no
longer for sale. She has put it online to view for free, with a request for a
donation. Some shaky hand held camera work, but it's a heartfelt ten minute
short. |
