This Greek drama about two
teenage prostitutes in Athens is as harsh and ugly as they come - with violence,
guns, drugs and sex. It's a raw and rough life for Nadia (Danai Skiadi), 16, and
Martha (Katerina Tsavalou), who feels old at 17. "F***ing four or five guys
a day really wears you down," says Nadia. The girls begin a relationship
together and make love almost as a way to prove that they care about one another.
Their lives are filled with graphic sex for hire with men, as well as with their
boyfriends, who work for gay johns. Nadia seems disturbed, a user of men
and an admitted arsonist who soon turns to murder. Martha sticks with her out
of love, even though it's likely that Nadia is just using her as well. Eventually,
Nadia extinguishes the remaining innocence left in Martha. As one might
expect, all does not end well, and as a viewer, I felt that much of the movie
was about waiting for that unhappy ending, finding out how it plays out. Watch
only if you're in the mood for dark.
