Sister Thirteen - Portland Street Blues

Sister Thirteen (Sandra Ng Kwan Yue) is the leader of the Portland Street gang in Hong Kong. She's tough and runs the sex business in the area. She's also a known lesbian (although if I had to put her in a box, I would call her bisexual).

In the beginning of the film, her girlfriend betrays her, but Thirteen remains stoic in public. Through flashback, we see that she's been a gangster since the death of her father, who saved her from the hands of a gang leader. Her past shows a journey into the hard woman she appears to be, without real love in her life, proving herself in a business run by men and becoming the triad kingpin of Portland Street.

Finally Thirteen breaks down at the murder of Coke (Alex Fong), the man who avenged her father's death and the one man she loved (although he did not return her feelings). To make it even more painful, her former girlfriend participated in the betrayal, telling Thirteen that she only used her.

Sister Thirteen proves herself again and has the support of her men behind her, taking care of Coke's killer with deadly force. She seems destined to grow colder and harder in the face of the violent life she leads. Her one remaining close support is her business partner Ben Hon (Vincent Wang), who also has a crush on her.

This film is part of a popular Hong Kong series called "Young and Dangerous," but is the only one that focuses on female characters.
