Shelly (Molly Gross) and
Suzy (Marisa Ryan) lead the "No Exits," an all girl punk rock band in
Seattle, a hot ticket on the club scene and on the verge of signing a record deal.
For Shelly, music is the most important thing in her life, while for Suzy it's
a political tool for feminist activism. They're also a couple, happily
making music, love and guerilla attacks against porn vendors, rapists and right
wing dj's together. Then it all starts to unravel when Shelly's anti-establishment
ex-boyfriend Jimmy (Jason Bortz) shows up. Shelly still has feelings for him,
and Suzy's worst fears come true when the two sleep together. Suzy throws
Shelly out of the house and the band, jeopardizing the future of the record deal.
Will Suzy let her play in the band anyway? Does Shelly really want to be with
Jimmy, or is she just confused again? A plot about a love triangle in which
a bisexual woman chooses a man over her girlfriend isn't great viewing for me,
and none of the three main characters are particularly likeable either. The reason
to watch this would be for the Seattle alternative music scene setting and some
fun music. Includes one song by Ani DiFranco. |
