Photographer
Timothy Greenfield-Saunders uses an antique camera to shoot large format portraits
of artists, actors, musicians and even presidents. This HBO special watches him
as he photographs porn stars both clothed and nude in the same exact pose. We
also get interviews from the actors about their chosen profession and their lives
as porn stars. The shoot includes men and women, many of whom do both gay
and straight porn. Several of them talk about porn as an economic opportunity.
Nina Hartley is especially expressive. "People always say, oh these poor
women. These women did not have the choice of Harvard or porno. It's porn or paper
hat. Porn or double wide trailer. Porn or five kids." Others talk about the
addiction of sex on camera. Jenna Jameson, the most successful porn star
ever, an industry on her own, makes an appearance for photographs, but does not
give an interview. Although currently married to a man, she has been quite candid
about her lesbian relationships in the past. On screen, she pairs with both men
and women, including Brianna Loves Jenna and several installments of Where
the Boys Aren't. Sunrise Adams, whose credits include Dyke Inc.,
is quite a fan herself. "Jenna Jameson's probably the one person that I look
up to as an adult actress more than anyone else. I finally got an opportunity
to work with her, and after our first scene together, I ran around and was yelling
at everybody to smell my face. I was just like, 'Oh my god. I have Jenna Jameson's
juice on my face. I'm never gonna wash it again. Smell it. Smell it. It's a hint
of Jenna.'" Lots of male and female nudity in this one, and some very
interesting interviews, plus commentary from people like Gore Vidal and Faye Wattleton.
It does not contain any actual porn. |
